Prop Firms With No Time Limit: Why Deadlines Break Traders

A 30-day expiry turns a calm target into a deadline, and deadlines cause overtrading. What removing the clock actually changes about how you trade.

Time limits are the quietest way a rule set lowers your pass rate. Nothing about a 30-day expiry looks unreasonable on a pricing page. What it does in practice is convert a probability problem into a scheduling problem.

What a deadline does to position sizing

With no expiry, a 6% target at 0.5% a day takes twelve trading days and you can skip any session that does not offer your setup. With a 30-day expiry and a slow first fortnight, you now need roughly 0.6% a day with no bad days, and every missed session raises the required daily rate. Traders respond by increasing size — which is exactly what the daily loss limit is watching for.

What no time limit changes

  • You can sit out a bad week without consequence.
  • You can trade only your A-setups, which is the entire point of having a strategy.
  • A drawdown early in the evaluation is recoverable rather than terminal.
  • Your evaluation risk profile matches your funded risk profile, which is what the evaluation is supposed to be testing.

FundedAxe applies No expiry on any evaluation phase. Combined with no minimum trading days on the Pay After Pass challenge, the evaluation runs on your schedule rather than a calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Are there prop firms with no time limit?

Yes. FundedAxe applies no expiry to any evaluation phase, so there is no deadline to reach the growth target.

Why do time limits make challenges harder?

A deadline forces a minimum daily gain, which pushes traders to increase position size and accept lower-quality setups. Both directly raise the chance of breaching the daily loss limit.
