A daily loss limit needs a definition of "day." That definition is the broker's server day, and it is almost never your local one.
Why server time matters
If the server day rolls at 00:00 server time and you are eight hours behind, a trade you think of as "this afternoon" may be assessed in tomorrow's window. That is usually harmless — until a losing session sits near the limit and a late trade lands in the wrong bucket.
Rollover
- Spreads widen sharply for a few minutes around rollover on most instruments.
- Swap is applied at rollover, and triple swap applies on one day of the week.
- A stop placed just outside the normal spread can be taken out by the widening alone.
Session boundaries worth knowing
| Session | Character | Spread |
|---|---|---|
| Asia | Lower range, mean-reverting | Wider on non-JPY pairs |
| London open | Highest range, momentum | Tight |
| London/NY overlap | Deepest liquidity | Tightest |
| Late NY / rollover | Thin, erratic | Widest |
Trading an instrument outside its main session means the same setup with worse execution — which on a tight target is a real cost, not a rounding error.
Trade any session
No restricted hours, and the daily loss limit is assessed end of day.
Frequently asked questions
What time does the prop firm trading day reset?
At the broker's server rollover, not your local midnight. Check the offset between server time and your own on day one — a late trade can otherwise land in a different daily-loss window than you expect.
Are there restricted trading hours at prop firms?
Some firms restrict trading around news releases or require positions flat before the weekly close. FundedAxe requires neither, though on a funded account profit from trades opened or closed within five minutes of a high-impact release may be removed.
FundedAxe evaluations and funded accounts are simulated. Traders do not trade real client capital; rewards are paid on simulated performance under the terms of the FundedAxe trader agreement.
